Wexford comes from the Norse Weissfiord meaning, the fjord of the flats. Wexford is also known as the "Model County". Wexford also benefits from the best of Irish weather. The town of Wexford was captured during the Norman Invasion in 1169. Wexford possesses many wrecks such as Viking Long boats as well as submarines from World War II.
